FAQ: Cloudflare integration

Why does Cloudflare block my uptime checks?

Cloudflare's firewall, WAF, Bot Fight Mode and rate limiting are built to turn away automated traffic. An uptime check is automated traffic, so it can be met with a 403, a challenge or a 429, which makes a healthy site look down.

What does Pulsetic change in my Cloudflare account?

It adds allow rules for its own monitoring IP addresses. It does not touch your other firewall rules, DNS records or any other setting.

Does it keep the allow rules up to date?

Yes. When Pulsetic's checking IP addresses change, the rules are updated automatically, so you never maintain an IP list by hand.

Does it cover IPv6 as well as IPv4?

Yes. Both the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses Pulsetic checks from are allowlisted.

Will it interfere with my existing firewall rules?
